I bought  a 5.0  1998 Ford Explorer motor about  1 month ago and Ihave been collecting parts for the build up.  I tore down the engine completely...bare block.  Since then I've been researching and ordering parts like it was X-mas in August.  I'm not going big HP with this build...sad face here.  It will be a just a cam change from stock.  I really decided after doing the research that to build the kind of HP I want at a resonable price it is smarter to build a 351 windsor...even stroke it to 393 reasonably cheap...add a few other dodadds and your looking at a real good time in the desert and snow.  400+ hp is not hard at all.  So, looking back I'd probably been smarter to go that route.  Live and learn.  But, this was not dumb either given the price and condition of the motor.  And...the motor I have will be the factory Ford Cobra Mustang motor for 1998...and that doesn't suck.  Best factory flowing heads and intake of all Ford 5.0's that year so I've got a nice motor here.   FYI...the 351 windsor motor is the same family of motor as the 5.0.  Same motor mounts...same belllhousing.  Oh well..like I said.. you live and you learn.

So this will be the build thread...don't know how much I'll post from my sunk works facility, but I'll show as much and I can.
